Big serving American John Isner welcomed two special guests at the ATP Cup on Tuesday night in Perth.
Fremantle teammates Luke Ryan and Brennan Cox were treated to front row seats behind the baseline at RAC Arena to cheer on the world no.19 who admitted to have more than a soft spot for Freo.
While the night didn’t go as planned for the USA, Ryan and Cox met the 34-year-old post-game and presented him with a Freo jumper.
“He said he loves Freo as he roomed with another Perth guy who was a Freo fan,” Ryan said.
“It was a pretty cool experience. I think it was only the second tennis game I’ve been to.
“I didn’t realise how much they can spin the ball and how low they hit it over the net every time. It’s pretty amazing what they do.”
The ATP cup is raising funds for the Australian bushfires with a $100 donation for every ace served in the tournament.
Known as one of the best servers ever to play on the ATP tour, Isner was naturally leading the way.
“I think he hit 15 aces, so that was $1500 for the bushfires,” Ryan said.
“He’s also leading the whole competition so he’s raising a lot of money for the Australian bushfires which everyone really appreciates.”
