Midfielder Hayley Miller said she is excited about Saturday night's AFLW pre-season game at TIO Stadium in Darwin, which gives Fremantle a chance to test themselves against Adelaide, the league's reigning premiers.
It is a repeat of last year's pre-season clash in what was the first hitout as a side for both clubs.
“It was super fun last season when we did the same sort of thing,” Miller said.
“We’ve been working really hard on the track and can’t wait to put our practice into a match in Darwin on the weekend.”
With the new season bringing some fresh new faces to the team, Miller said she’s been impressed with what she's seen.
“Jodi White in the ruck has really impressed me with the way she’s gone about everything in the preseason,” Miller said.
Hayley Miller also praised defender Tayla McAuliffe's efforts in the backline.
“Her strength and the ability to break lines and get that run off half-back for us has been really good,” Miller said.
Coming into her second season as a part of Freo’s AFLW team, Miller said every season brings an opportunity to learn more.
“I think you’re always learning all the time, there’s never a perfect season and last season definitely wasn’t perfect for us,” Hayley Miller said.
“We’ve worked really hard on our structures this time and everyone’s base fitness is a lot higher than what it was last year. Hopefully we can bring that into the first couple of games of this season and do very well.”
Saturday's pre-season clash will be streamed live by AFLNT, commencing at 7:30pm local time (6:00pm WST).
