There will be a few extra faces when Freo run out onto Fremantle Oval on Sunday against Melbourne, with the children of Fremantle players joining their mums when bursting through the banner.
There are a number of Freo-mums in the NAB AFL Women’s side, including Jodie While, Lisa Webb and 2017 fairest and best winner Dana Hooker.
A mother of twin boys, White is handling the challenge of raising twins while chasing her AFLW dream.
“Having twin boys is pretty crazy, so trying to combine it all is a bit of a struggle at times,” White said.
“You just do what you’ve got to do and make the most of it and hope that we all have fun along the way.
“It’s good to have a few other mums in the club and you can talk about daily struggles and kids being terrors and things like that. It’s good to have their support.”
It will be White’s first AFLW game at Fremantle Oval and she expects the moment to be extra special when sharing it with her sons.
“It will mean a lot to have Josh and Lucas to run out with me,” White said.
“They’re obviously very important to me. For them to be a part of the occasion and run out with me is super special.
“They’ve watched me play since they were born pretty much, they used to come around to the games in the pram and they’ve grown up with the footy and watching women’s footy and enjoying it.”
White is extra thankful to the banner crew, who might have some extra clean-up work after the team runs onto the ground.
“I can’t wait to run through the banner,” White said.
“I’ve told the boys about it, they’re very excited and they can’t wait to rip through the banner and tear it down. We’ll see how that goes!”
