Fremantle have finalised their round two team for Sunday’s clash with Collingwood at Victoria Park.
Midfield gun and former AFLW Fairest and Best winner Kiara Bowers will play her first game of the season after overcoming a knee issue.
Small forward Makaela Tuhakaraina has been omitted from the side, after she was a late replacement for Bowers ahead of last weekend’s RAC Derby.
Nikki Nield and Jae Flynn join Tuhakaraina as emergencies for the clash.
AFLW Senior Coach Lisa Webb said the addition of Bowers would add further leadership and contested strength to Freo’s midfield mix.
“She is a great leader for our inside mids, and we’ll be really excited to have her back particularly against a strong midfield in Collingwood,” Webb said.
“Turbo is a professional in what she does and we’re really confident she will get through this season well (with her knee)
“She is a great addition to come back into our team.”
Webb highlighted Collingwood’s first half in their season-opener last weekend against Melbourne.
“They’re a really good team, their first half of footy against Melbourne last weekend was really strong and they played some really good surge footy,” Webb said.
“They will bring a strong brand of contested footy against us, they like to get numbers to the contest.
“We look forward to putting our best foot forward with our midfield and giving our forwards the best chance possible.”
The last time the two sides met at Victoria Park was in Season Six, with Fremantle running out 31-point winners.
Bouncedown for the clash is at 11.05am WST and will be broadcast live on 7Mate and Fox Sports 503, as well as streamed live on 7 Plus, Kayo and the official AFL Women’s app.
