The Fremantle Dockers are delighted to announce the appointment of Sasha Pendal to the Club’s Board of Directors.
Pendal is currently a Group General Manager at Fortescue Metals Group and has significant experience in operations, leadership and governance. She has worked for significant West Australian organisations across the health, energy, and government sectors, whilst having a personal commitment to causes that enrich the community.
She joins the board of directors following the completion of Peter Mann’s term as a director.
Fremantle have eight directors on their board, led by President Dale Alcock. Following the completion of the 2023 AFL Women’s Season, Alcock will hand over the presidency to current board member Chris Sutherland.
A proud East Fremantle resident, Pendal is both passionate about the Fremantle Dockers and the area she lives.
“It will be an enormous privilege to contribute to the Fremantle journey, which is now spanning more than two generations of membership,” Pendal said.
“I am excited to make a contribution to this Club.
“I care about the Fremantle community, and the Purple Army is a significant part of that community.
“One of the really special elements about the AFL and AFLW, is the passion that is generated, and this is evident across the playing group, the membership, management, sponsors and also at a board level.
“I hope to bring both a results-oriented approach and a sense of fun to my work at Fremantle, because I believe both matter to high performance.
“The values of the Fremantle Dockers board together with its professionalism and stability stand out to me. It’s appealing to be able to bring a fresh experience and energy to that.”
Dale Alcock said he looked forward to both the board and Fremantle benefitting from Pendal’s experience and knowledge.
“I am very pleased to announce that the Fremantle Football Club has appointed Sasha Pendal as our eighth Director,” Alcock said.
“This follows an extensive process that commenced in October 2022, involving our Board of Directors, the West Australian Football Commission and an experienced external executive recruitment consultant.
“Sasha’s skills and experience is complementary to our current Board of Directors and she brings a diverse knowledge of strategy, retail and consumer, combined with risk management.
“Having been previously involved at a senior management level in a membership organisation, Sasha will bring a wealth of knowledge relating to stakeholder management, including commercial and member relationships.”
